The Mobile Production Units will primarily see service on marginal fields. As jack-up units, the MOPUs can be relocated from one field to another.
We introduced the MOPUstor for the development of remote marginal oil fields. The subsea storage tank, with a capacity of 300,000 bbls, also serves as a base for the jack-up unit.
In 1997 the first MOPUstor was launched for the SIRI field, presently operated by Dong in the Danish sector of the North Sea.
Although it is a MOPU plus FSO, the Saparmyrat is a specialty. This unit operates in the Caspian Sea, but was built at Lamprell, UAE. With a width limitation of 16 m, the jack-up is a crucifix shape based on two barges and a 3-legged configuration.
We have also designed the MOPU for Deep Panuke field, which SBM Offshore is leasing to Encana.
